Players of all levels now play with a hybrid string set up in their tennis rackets. According to Babolat 70% of ATP players and 80% of WTA players use a hybrid set up. Yet many recreational players seem to be unaware of this option.

Hybrid stringing combines two strings-one for the mains and another for the crosses- and utilises the unique characteristics of each one so that, when combined, they meet the players needs. With over 10,000 strings on the market the choice is vast, and when you combine two strings in a hybrid set up, the choices for players explodes exponentially.

A hybrid string set up, can be a good step away from a full bed of polyester for players with arm injuries. Whilst I would recommend a softer string bed for players with arm injuries, sometimes players struggle to cope, coming away from a full bed of polyester, so a soft polyester combined with a synthetic gut or multifilament can still help with the arm injury.
