About Me

I qualified as a certified stringer in October 2014 by passing the UKRSA qualification, taught by Liam Nolan, former Head Stringer at Wimbledon.  I started stringing rackets after I got my own racket restrung at a local shop, and being unhappy with the string used and the tension, as I immediately had tennis elbow.

This prompted me to want to understand different strings and tensions, and this led me to become a qualified stringer. I now string many rackets for players from many local racket clubs.

On 7th August 2016 I was successful in gaining the USRSA Master Racket Technician qualification again with Liam Nolan of the UKRSA as the examiner. To certify, I had to gain 82% in a 90 minute theory examination, then a timed preparation of a racket. To maintain my certification I have to successfully complete an annual test on racket technologies and I have now held this certification for 7 years.

March 2022 I qualified to become a UKRSA/Dunlop tournament stringer. This qualification allows me to become a part of the UKRSA/Dunlop stringing team, providing the stringing service at many tournaments throughout the UK

My Equipment

My machine is a Wilson Bairado Lite. This top of the range machine is extremely robust and features 6-point mounting swivel clamps as well as 360 degree smooth swivel system. The tensioning system includes multiple pull speeds and can accommodate three levels of pre-stretch.

Receiving your Racket

I will always ask what string and tension you require, check for any tennis elbow issues. I will inspect your racket for any cracks, broken grommets and advise of any issues before I commence the restring. The racket will also be cleaned.

Restringing your Racket

Unless stated, the racket will be strung to mid tension as stated on the racket frame, and it will be strung in line with the manufacturer instructions on the stringing pattern. The main strings always undergo a dynamic tension equalisation process to increase the sweet spot.

Returning your Racket

The racket manufacturer logo is stenciled on the strings unless otherwise requested, and a card with the date of restring, string and tension information attached. You will receive a text or email to confirm your racket is ready for collection.
