2020 has not been without it’s challenges, with racket sports being severely affected by Covid19. April & May proved to be the months where racket stringing almost stopped, but from June onwards the amount of rackets has almost matched the pervious year.
2020 has seen a new string brand, Mayami join the market, and I’m currently evaluating the whole range with a view to stocking the best ones in 2021. Another string new to the offering next year will be Tier One Ghostwire, a round, arm friendly soft Co-Poly which plays well as a full bed and also as a hybrid.
The analysis of what I strung last year found Babolat as the most popular racket, with Wilson & Head being the next most popular.
In terms of popular strings, Babolat was the clear favourite, which is surprising given i don’t use it by choice, only if a customer requests it, why, because I feel there are many better value strings on the markets with equal performance.
Tension wise, 54lb was the average tension over all tennis rackets, which is a little high, i would like to see this drop towards 50/52 particularly with players using a full bed of polyester, so that is a role i need fulfil in 2021.
